R+W Antriebselemente GmbH was first established in 1990 in Klingenberg, Germany. The head office is still there, but we are now more than 220 people, with subsidiaries in USA, China, Italy, Singapore, France and Slovakia, and are partnered with over 60 distributors in more than 50 countries. Many developments have lead to this success, but most importantly it was brought about our endless search for the best possible coupling solutions. R+W stands for expertise in the development of solutions for precise torque transmission. As a leading manufacturer of precision couplings and line shafts, we strive to maintain a permanent status of technology leadership in our field. Now available is a specially designed version of the tried and true industrial couplings for the protection of extruders. The extremely robust safety couplings have a compact design for high torque applications. In the event of a torque overload, the drive and driven elements are separated within a few milliseconds, safeguarding the extruder from damage. This will help to reduce costly downtime and expensive repairs. In addition to simple and quick re-engagement, as well as various torque adjustment ranges, this model offers other valuable advantages. The vibration damping and shock absorbing torque limiters are designed with an integrated elastomer jaw coupling, allowing for compensation of axial, angular, and lateral shaft misalignment. Since the torque limiters are offered with mounting configurations such as fully split hubs or flanged keyway mount hubs, the series offers lateral mounting, significantly simplifying installation and eliminating the need to move the motor during installation or maintenance.

In addition to standard designs, R+W can now supply a version with an integrated coolant tube. This offers valuable advantages to manufacturers of machine tools with long spindle drives. This specially designed double disc spindle coupling can transport coolant directly to the cutting head over long distances using an integrated inner tube and special adaptation interfaces on each end. Since these couplings are often used in highly dynamic, high speed applications, lightweight CFRP or aluminum spacer tubes are typically used. Highly symmetric conical clamping ring hubs and fine balancing helps to guarantee smooth running operation. Misalignment between the drive and driven shafts is compensated for by the torisonally rigid disc packs. This robust, high performance line of couplings provides users with a simplified spindle setup, reduced assembly times, faster operating speeds, and longer tool life.
